Mouse House/5 Easy-To-Build Homes for Your Computer Mouse: Five Easy-To-Build Homes Where a Computer Muse Can Reside in Style-The Taj Mahal, the White House, the Parthenon, the Golden Pavilion,
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (June, 1995)
Authors: Jim Becker and Andy Mayer
Average review score:

Stupendous Quality
All the paper models are expertly designed. They go together perfectly, even if you aren't big on following directions. Pieces are printed on both sides so you can't make a mistake. Tabs fit perfectly into slots, score lines make folding a breeze and the finished buildings look pretty cool. Rest assured, there's no running water and it's a bit hard to get fire insurance on paper houses. You'll still be living better than your mouse. A fun gift and the houses come out looking quite swank!

Everything a mouse could wish for
Very clever idea. Excellent graphics and easy-to-follow directions. Makes a great gift for that special computer person. And, for all the Dave Barry fans, this is just not a "guy thing." It's a definite buy

My Girl (Motown Baby Love Board Books, 1)
Published in Hardcover by Jump at the Sun (September, 2001)
Authors: Ronald White, Charles R., Jr. Smith, William Robinson, Margaret Miller, and Penny Gentieu
Average review score:

Rock Star Babies!
These books are so cute. There are several of them in the series. They use the lyrics from popular Motown songs with pictures of various happy babies.

The books are heavy cardboard so if you have a child that is just at the point of trying to turn the pages by themselves they won't rip the pages. They are also well sized for little hands.

The babies are a multicultural lot with both mommies and daddies represented so chances are you will find babies, and parents, that look just like you.

And since the words are really song lyrics they are easily sung or spoke in a rhythm that children should like.

Too cute! Gotta sing along!
Perfect book for both my girls! The baby is biracial and it's so hard to find anything that isn't all blonde hair and blue eyes! These books are cute, fun and we all know the words! Only complaint: HARD TO FIND! Even here, unless you know what you are looking for! But worth the search!

This book is WONDERFUL!
I liked this book because I didn't figure out the solution to the mystery until the end of the book. It kept my attention and I couldn't even sleep because of it. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes mysteries.

The White Elephant Mystery was great. I've read it 3 times!
In The Mystery of the White Elephant was really different from other T.C.D.C. books. It made me feel like I helped Tim, Ti and S.J. solve it. It was Neat-O.

National Geographic Guide to America's Outdoors: Southwest : Nature Adventures in Parks, Preserves, Forests, Wildlife Refuges, Wildnerness Areas
Published in Paperback by National Geographic (October, 2000)
Author: Mel White
Average review score:

What a way to go!
I always knew this area of the Southwest was beautiful, based on my limited firsthand experience. Reading this guidebook makes me want to go back and explore more of the places I missed. Mr. White's use of the language evokes not only the beauty of the area but offers fascinating bits of information about the geology and origins of the places described. Guidebooks are used to guide, obviously, but this one, thanks to Mr. White, also illuminates and entertains. Mr. Huey's photography is first-rate. Highly recommended.

What a Wonderful Guide for Adventures of all Kind
This is one of a series of books provided by National Geographic featuring the famous and lesser-known, less traveled parks in the United States. The series is divided into regions and provides invaluable information about accommodations, trails, activities, optimal times of travel, etc. Don't plan a trip without perusing these books!

Native Wisdom for White Minds: Daily Reflections Inspired by the Native Peoples of the World
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Wellspring (September, 1995)
Author: Anne Wilson, Ph.D. Schaef
Average review score:

A wonderful look at the Big Picture
...

As I read the book, daily, I find myself continuously validated. The Maori believe as I do. So do the Irish, the Samoan, the Inupiat, the Aboriginal, the Blackfoot, the Hawaiian, the Swahili, the Lakota...and there is still so much for me to learn from them. All of these people have a reverence for life and incredibly generous spitits. The book shows us the common sense that we Westerners ignore in the favor of materialism, and shows us the wonderful sense of humor that Native Peoples have. This books has something for all of us in Western culture to learn from.

A lot of wisdom
A "MUST", If you don't read it, you will miss something in your life. There is a lot to learn

Great - even if you don't have kids!
Went to the White Mountains with another adult friend and picked this book because the walks looked about our speed. The directions are great, descriptions and nature discussions also very informative and entertaining. I particularly liked the "what the kids get out of it" feature for each walk. I particularly recommend the walk to Diana's Baths, a waterful near North Conway, NH.

Neither Black Nor White: Slavery and Race Relations in Brazil and the United States
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall College Div (April, 1971)
Author: Carl N. Degler
Average review score:

A Must Read for Everyone
A very concise and succinct summary of race relations, their origins, and history in a very objective manner with numerous references to other credible sources. It also points the way to controlling the expression of racism at all social levels.

Perhaps the best book on race relations ever
By comparing and contrasting the two separate, though similar contries, Degler not only provides a world class history of the institution of slavery in both countries, but forces the reader to examine their own prejudices in the matter. Perhaps it is the best book written upon the subject, and is a valuable addition to historians, socialogists, and anyone interested in understanding the difficulties of overcoming discrimination.

Nelson Companion
Published in Hardcover by Bramley Books ()
Author: Colin White
Average review score:

This is a wonderful book. Up to White's usual high standard.
Colin White works hard so we don't have to. He has saved us having to dig through countless book to find information on persons, events and places that feature prominently, or even incidentally, in Lord Nelson's colourful life. This book will be an invaluable aid to everyone interested in Nelson, the Royal Navy, and the Napoleonic Wars.

Also highly recommended:

Joel Hayward's "For God and Glory: Lord Nelson and His Way of War"

Evan Thomas's "John Paul Jones : Sailor, Hero, Father of the American Navy"

a brilliant introduction to a great man
While visiting Nelson's flagship VICTORY in Portsmouth recently, I asked the guide to recommend a book about Nelson, as I realsied I knew very little about the great man. He told me to buy this excellent book by Colin White - and I'm really glad I did.

Its packed with fascinating facts (did you know, for exapmple that Hitler actually planned to move Nelson's column to Berlin if he defeated Britain?)and some really wonderful illustrations.

Its a really good read and I find I keep going back to it to check on various facts. What's more, its got me reading more books about Nelson!

(PS: Did you know, by the way, that Colin White has written ANOTHER book about Nelson? Its called '1797: Nelson's Year of Destiny' and its all about his exploits at the Battle of Cape St Vincent. I looked for it earlier on the Amazon list but it wasn't there.

Tom Pocock's "Horatio Nelson"

Brilliant introduction to a brilliant man!
This is the best book I've read about Nelson in a long time (and I've read quite a few!). Colin White has unearthed a load of new material and has put it together in an accessible and readable form.

There is a first-rate introductory essay sketching out Nelson's life and career and showing how all the new material changes our view of the little admiral. Then there is a series of brilliant short essays on all aspects of his life - his battles, his ships, his women, and so on and so on.

Its one of those books its hard to put down. Each short essay has a "See also" section at the end of it and so you find yourself flipping happily through the book following a fascinating "trail".

Some great illustrations, many of which I'd never seen before and some excellent battle plans, again based on all the latest research. The book looks good too and feels good in your hands

This is not a traditional biography, but don't let that put you off. I guarantee you'll get a huge amount of enjoyment out of it and come away feeling that you have been listening to a man who really understands Nelson.

New American Bible Catholic Gift Imitation Leather White With Zipper
Published in Hardcover by World Bible Pub Co (July, 1993)
Author: World Bible Publishing
Average review score:

It will change your life....I promise
I never thought I would make reading the bible part of my daily life. But by grace I bought this life changing bible and this is what made all the difference., It is easy to read, well explained and it does not contain difficult grammar or language. It is the perfect bible for those people who want to have God as an active part of their lives. I am very thakful to HIm for helping me find this bible...because it has changed my life and the lives of a lot of people that suround me. Make sure you get it so that it can change your life too.

Best All-Around Catholic Bible
I have practically every English translation of the Bible and this is by far my favorite. It's close to the King James and Douay-Rheims in orthodoxy and yet very readable like the New International Version. It, of course, has the full Catholic canon of scriptural texts -- so many of which are quoted so frequently in the literature of contempletive prayer -- and which I miss in a Protestant Bible without these texts. The footnotes are very helpful and, to me, very balanced in including both modern and ancient interpretations of readings without the arrogant bias so frequently encountered in the footnotes in the New Jerusalem and similar bibles that seem forever trying to undermine revelation and faith. Lastly, this is a well-designed book and bound so that the hardcover is flexible and the book lies flat when open.
